Massapequa Hall of Fame Honors Ten Inductees
Seven alumni and three community members to be inducted Monday.

The Massapequa High Schools Hall of Fame will expand by ten Monday, as they hold their annual induction ceremony.
THe Hall of Fame, which honors alumni of Massapequa High School and Berner High School as well as commnity members who've achieved extraordinary success in their chosen field or have provided exemplary service to the schools, community or the family.
This year's alumni inductees are:
- Douglas Brewer, BHS '68, for extraordinary achievement in the field of business. Brewer is an architect and president of W.A. Brown and Associates.
- Barbara Butcher, BHS '69, for extraordinary achievement in the field of Medical and Public Service. Butcher is Chief of Staff and Director of Forensic investigations at the New York City office of Chief Medical examiner. She helped lead the effort to identify victims in the aftermath of 9/11.
- Chris Claremont, BHS '68, for extraordinary achievement in the field of Literary Arts. Claremont is an comic writer, known for his work on the X-Men series.
- Danielle Breitman Groves, MHS '92, for extraordinary achievement in medicine. The daughter of an aneurysm patient, Groves specializes in pain management and musculoskeletal medicine.
- Nancy Loesch, BHS, '82 for extraordinary achievement in music and management. Loesch has appeared as an operatic and concert soloist around the nation.
- Howard Matis, MHS '66 for extraordinary achievement in science. Matis is as staff physicist at the U.S. Department of Energy, whose work has taken him to Antartica, where his team developed a hi-energy neutrino telescope.
- Rev. Richard Viladesau, MHS. 62 for achievement in theology. Viladeau is a professor of theology at Fordham University.
This year's community inductees are:
- William Cutllo, who will receive a posthumous induction for extraordinary achievement in education and athletics. Cutillo was a technology teacher at BHS and MHS and coached the Massapequa football team for 13 years.
- Barbara Devoti, for extraordinary achievement in education and community. Devoti served the school district for 31 years as a Family and Consumer Science teacher.
- Albert Freise, for extraordinary achievement in community service. Freise seved as president of the Massapequa Coast Little League and started their Challenger program for special needs players.
