Massapequa Welcomes ALS Ride for Life Participants

Ames campus presents money raised for Ride for Life.

With posters in hand and words of support, the MHS Ames Campus was out in full force to present a $250 check to ALS Ride for Life participants Chris Pendergast and other ALS patients as they make their way in power wheelchairs from Montauk to Manhattan to raise awareness of the disease and funds for a cure. Pendergast, a former teacher, founded the ALS Ride for Life in 1998 after he was diagnosed with the progressive neurodegenerative disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 1993. Principal Patrick DiClemente along with the entire staff and student body stood outside the school where inspirational music played and several banners hung to cheer on the ALS motorcade and wish them well in their quest to conquer the disease.
