Students at Schwarting Elementary School recently took part in a world-wide program that resulted in setting a new record.
Students in grades K-5 were involved in the 2013 World Speed Stacking Association’s “Stack Up” event, an effort to break the world record for most students stacking at one time.
Sport stacking is an activity, in which participants s stack and unstack 12 specifically designed cups, called Speed Stacks, in specific patterns.
It helps build fitness, motor skills and coordination, scool officials say.
“It offers a different way to teach physical education and can even translate into the classroom,” said Nicole McMahon, a teaching assistant at the school.
More than 484,000 students from 36 countries and 2,800 schools participated in the event, which did set the record.
