At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Massapequa once again came together once again to honor those who served our country in the military.
The annual wreath-laying ceremony took place at Albert F. Klestinec Park Monday morning at the the exact time the armistice ending World War I took effect.
"It was and it it is the hard work and sacrifice made by so many men and women who are our Veterans that give us all of the wonderful freedoms and opportunities that we enjoy as citizens of America," said Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto.
Veterans and civic organizations laid wreaths at the park named for a Massapequan killed in the Vietnam war.
More than 100 people were on hand including elected officials, boy scouts and dozens of veterans.
"Today's a very special day for all veterans whether they were a truck diver or whether they worked in the kitchen," said Greg Greene, the commander of American Legion Post 1066. "because you've given a part of you life for your country."
"Wars keep on going on, but veterans are always there," he said.
