Duo Charged in String of Armed Robberies

They were arrested after one of them held up a Dunkin' Donuts Sunday evening, police say.

Two men have been charged in a recent robbery spree in Suffolk County, police said.

According Suffolk Police, Major Case Unit detectives responded to a report of a robbery in Medford at about 5:35 p.m Sunday. A man entered Dunkin' Donuts, located at 3197 Horseblock Road, displayed a gun, and demanded cash from an employee at the counter. The employee complied and the man fled on foot.

Following an investigation, Joseph Montesano, was arrested on Route 112 in Medford at 10:44 p.m., police said. It was determined that Montesano and another man, Joseph Fooks, were responsible for three other robberies and an attempted robbery that took place earlier this month, police said. Fooks was arrested early Monday morning.

Montesano and Fooks were charged with first degree attempted robbery for the following:

· Oct. 2 - Speedway, located at 3203 Route 112, Medford

Montesano and Fooks were charged with first degree robbery for the following:

· Oct. 2 - USA Gas, located at 3173 Route 112, Medford

· Oct. 5 - Bolla Market, located at 2664 Route 112, Medford

· Oct. 8 - BP, located at 1099 Horseblock Road, Medford

Montesano was charged with first degree robbery for the following:

· October 14 - Dunkin' Donuts, located at 3197 Horseblock Road, Medford

Montesano was also charged with a parole warrant.

Montesano, 22, of Medford, and Fooks, 28, of Medford, were arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.
