5 Evacuated After Merrick House Fire: Fire Marshal
The fire broke out at 12:14 a.m., officials say.
MERRICK, NY. — Five people were forced to evacuate their Merrick home in the early hours of Tuesday morning, after a fire broke out on Elliot Street, fire officials said Tuesday.
The fire broke out at 12:14 a.m. and was in the walls of the two-story private residence, the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said. All five occupants of the home were able to evacuate the home unharmed, with fire departments from North Merrick, Wantagh, Bellmore and Freeport responding to the scene, the fire marshal’s office said.
The fire was under control in about 15 minutes, the fire marshal’s office said, and no injuries to firefighters were reported Tuesday.
