2 NYC Men Accused Of Having, Selling Fentanyl In Poughkeepsie

Police said the men were initially pulled over for driving without headlights.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Two New York City men were accused of selling fentanyl in the city of Poughkeepsie.

The New York State Police said, on Tuesday, Cedric J. Thomas, 58, of New York, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felonies, and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and driving while ability impaired for drugs, misdemeanors.

Additionally, Julio C. Tejada, 40, of New York, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Police said, around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, troopers said they saw a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica driving on Columbus Drive in Poughkeepsie without headlights.

Following a vehicle and traffic stop, troopers said it was determined Thomas was under the influence of drugs.

Further investigation found both men were in possession of about 6.8 grams of fentanyl and 0.4 grams of crack cocaine.

Thomas and Tejada were arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

They are next scheduled to appear in court Friday.
