3 Adults, 2 Teens Assault, Rob 17-Year-Old Of His Backpack: Police

The suspects fled the scene in New Windsor, before soon being captured in Cornwall, according to police officials.

NEW WINDSOR, NY — Arrests were made after a mob attacked and robbed an Orange County teenager, according to police.

The New Windsor Police Department says that on Monday, around 2:56 p.m., officers responded to Old Forge Road, near Provost Drive, after receiving a report of a fight in progress.

Once at the scene, officers and detectives found a 17-year-old who told them that he had been assaulted by a group of men who stole his backpack and fled in a vehicle.

Detectives were able to find the backpack after it was discarded from the fleeing vehicle.

A description of the vehicle and the license plate were broadcast to available units. Shortly after, Town of Cornwall police stopped the vehicle on Route 94, near Shore Drive, in the Town of Cornwall.

Three adults and two adolescents were arrested: 21-year-old Jahreek Griffin, of Newburgh; 19-year-old Willie Cousar, of Newburgh; 18-year-old Terence Walker, of Newburgh; a 17-year-old from Newburgh; and a 17-year-old from New Windsor.

They were all charged with two felony counts of second-degree robbery, and held for their arraignments later that evening. After arraignment, all three adults were remanded, and the two adolescent offenders were released.
