4 Teens Accused Of Having Loaded Handgun In City Of Poughkeepsie
Three of the teens were juveniles and one was 19, police said.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A 19-year-old and three juveniles were accused of having an illegal weapon during a traffic stop Saturday in the city of Poughkeepsie.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department said officers stopped a car in the area of Maple Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
The driver was identified as Ahjanay Sanders, 19. There were three other teenage juveniles in the car, police said.

While talking to the car’s occupants, police said they saw a loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun with a defaced serial number sticking out from under a seat.
All four of the teens were taken into custody, and the car was impounded.

They were all charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.
Police said, during the interview process, a 17-year-old girl became combative and tried to spit on officers while throwing chairs and damaging property.
She was additionally charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal mischief, police said.
With exception of a 15-year-old girl who was released on a juvenile appearance ticket, the others were held pending arraignment.
