CSX Train Collides With Nissan Pathfinder That Was Stuck On Train Tracks

ULSTER, NY — A wrong turn could have had deadly consequences early this morning on the rails in the Hudson Valley.

At 4:18 a.m., the Ulster Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a crash detection alert on Leggs Mill Road.

Officers arriving at the scene found a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder SUV with significant collision damage. The driver, 59-year-old Anita L. Noblehinchey, of Kingston, was attempting to leave the parking lot of 55 Leggs Mill Road, when she drove her Nissan onto the railroad tracks where it became stuck, according to police.

Her attempts to remove the SUV from the tracks prior to the arrival of an oncoming CSX train failed.

Noblehinchey and her passenger were evaluated by Empress Ambulance, but refused any medical treatment.

The driver was found to be operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. She was charged with misdemeanor of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, as well as additional traffic violations.

The Ulster Police Department was assisted on scene by the Ulster Hose Fire Department, Empress Ambulance, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, and representatives from CSX.
