AK-47 And An Untraceable 'Ghost Gun' Seized After Report Of A Man Menacing Others: Police

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department says that additional charges are possible as the investigation unfolds.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A disturbing incident this weekend led to an even more troubling discovery, according to police.

On Saturday at 9:13 a.m., City of Poughkeepsie police officers responded to Cannon Street after a report about a man menacing with a handgun.

At the scene, the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Joseph Lombardi, was detained. A search led to the seizure of an AK-47 rifle and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic unserialized "ghost gun," cops said.

Detectives from the Neighborhood Recovery Unit responded to assist with the investigation, and Lombardi was charged with the felony criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He was also charged with second-degree menacing.

Police say that additional charges are possible.

Lombardi was processed and held pending arraignment.
