Already Arrested For Trespassing, Poughkeepsie Man Accused Of Burglary

Police said the man burglarized a smoke shop and trespassed at a supermarket.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Poughkeepsie man, already accused of trespassing and assaulting a police officer, was arrested two more times after being accused of trespassing and burglarizing a business.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department said Ashton Dean, 20, of Poughkeepsie, is currently under the supervision of probation for an arrest Sept. 5 for trespassing and assaulting a Town of Poughkeepsie police officer.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. Jan. 23, members of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department were sent to the Poughkeepsie Plaza, 2600 South Road, for a report of an unwanted person who had been removed from the property.

When officers arrived, they found Dean in the restroom, and he was taken into custody.

He was taken to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department where he was charged with third-degree criminal trespass.

Dean was also charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief, following an investigation into the burglary of a business Jan. 9.

Police said, at that time, Poughkeepsie town officers responded to Tobacco King at 2506 South Road for a burglary that happened sometime overnight.

Dean was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court where he was released to the supervision of Dutchess County Probation.

On Friday, officers were sent to the Stop and Shop at 2540 South Road for a report of someone trespassing.

Officers identified the person as Dean, and he was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

He was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court and he was sent to the Dutchess County jail in lieu of $1,000 bail, $2,500 bond or $5,000 partially secured bond.

Dean is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court at a later date.
