Arrest Made In Fatal Fishkill Hit-And-Run

The victim was taken by Empress EMS to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

FISHKILL, NY — A Dutchess County resident was arrested after being accused of leaving the scene of an accident that killed a pedestrian Saturday in Fishkill.

The New York State Police said Aida Y. Miranda, 62, of Fishkill, was arrested Sunday and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash, a felony.

Authorities said the investigation determined that Miranda, who was driving a 2019 Kia Sorrento, struck Balvinder Parihar, 72, of Fishkill, on Merritt Boulevard near Vanderbilt Way around 10 a.m. Saturday.

Miranda left the scene without reporting the incident, police said.

The trooper who responded to the accident began life-saving techniques on Parihar with an off-duty emergency medical technician.

The woman was taken by Empress EMS to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Miranda was arraigned in the Town of Fishkill Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail. Her next appearance is scheduled for Nov. 4.
