Bard College To Offer Scholarships To Ukrainian Students

The scholarship program is aimed at students who education has been impacted by the war.

ANNANDALE, NY — Sixty students from Ukraine who are displaced, under threat or unable to continue their education because of the Russian regime’s ongoing invasion will be offered scholarships by Bard College.

The scholarship program is aimed at individuals impacted by the war and is designed to allow students to begin or continue their undergraduate education, according to a news release from the Hudson Valley college.

Students will be admitted to Bard College’s main campus in Annandale and its affiliates in New York City, Bard College Berlin or Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

The college said the scholarships are open to university students from Ukraine who have lost access to higher education due to displacement or whose institutions have been force to close or are operating under challenging circumstances and those who were unable to get their higher education due to the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Select applicants will be considered for the spring 2023 semester, however the principal start of the Bard Emergency Ukrainian Student Refuge Program will be the fall 2023 semester.

School officials said the primary language of instruction is English, and all students must be sufficiently proficient to study in English.

The terms of the scholarship will vary, officials said, but each will cover a minimum of full tuition. Housing and living stipends will be available on a case-by-case basis according to need. Scholarships will be for a minimum of one year, with the possibility of renewal.
