Bronx Man Accused Of Having Illegal Loaded Handgun
State police said the man was also driving while impaired by drugs.

MONROE, NY — A Bronx resident was accused of having an illegal loaded handgun while being impaired by drugs.
The New York State Police said Matthew Bodiford, 32, of the Bronx, was charged Thursday with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and driving while impaired by drugs and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.
Police said, shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday, troopers saw a purple 2022 Dodge Charger traveling west at a high rate of speed on Route 17 in the town of Monroe.

A traffic stop was initiated, and while speaking to Bodiford, troopers determined he was impaired by drugs, police said.
He was arrested, police said, and a search of his car found marijuana cigarettes, a white pill determined to be Percocet and a loaded .380 caliber Colt handgun.

Bodiford was arraigned in the Town of Cornwall Court and send to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
