A spike strip was released causing the Benz to stop. The driver — Jordan M. Richards, 32, of Antioch, California — fled on foot.

Troopers said they were not able to locate the man.

On Wednesday, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office received a trespassing complaint, and Richards was turned over to the state police.

He was taken into custody and arraigned in the Town of Dover Court. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.

Richards is due to reappear in court Aug. 30. He was sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
