Columbia County Man Accused Of Attempted Murder In Stabbing

A victim was found with life-threatening wounds to the chest and neck, police said.

GREENPORT, NY — A Columbia County man was accused of trying to kill someone by stabbing them in the chest and neck.

The New York State Police said troopers were sent to home Saturday on Otty Drive in the town of Greenport for a possible stabbing.

Authorities said the victim had life-threatening injuries to the neck and chest and was taken to Albany Medical Center for emergency surgery.

Louis C. Lowman, 48, of Greenport, was arrested by police and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree attempted murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

He was arraigned in the Town of Greenport Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
