Dispute Over Social Media Posts Results In Ellenville Stabbing: Police

The two men involved in the fight were both wounded, according to police.

ELLENVILLE, NY — Two local men were injured in a fight over social media posts on Monday morning, police said.

Police were summoned to Center Street around 10:18 a.m. for a report of a knife fight.

When police arrived, the men fled towards Warren Street.

Police said they found one man bleeding from a head wound, with a box cutter and pocket knife in his possession. The second man was found at 28 Warren St. bleeding from two stab wounds, one in the arm and one in the neck and face, police said.

The men have been embroiled in an ongoing dispute for several months over social media posts and perceived harassment, according to a police department press release.

The argument started out as a verbal confrontation, then escalated when Frederick Thompson, 54, of Ellenville, pulled a box cutter razor out of his pocket, police said.

The other man, Christopher Nadal, 31, of Ellenville began to repeatedly strike Thompson in the head and face, and Thompson stabbed Nadal in the arm and neck areas, according to police.

Thompson was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was treated at the scene.

Nadal was taken to Ellenville Regional Hospital, treated and released, and then charged with third-degree assault, police said.
