DOT Closing Newburgh Road For Sewer Work

Weather permitting, the road will close beginning Tuesday, Sept. 27.

NEWBURGH, NY — A city of Newburgh road will be closed to traffic because of sewer work.

The state Department of Transportation said that Route 980T (Water Street) between Walsh Avenue and Renwick Street in the city of Newburgh is expected to close beginning at midnight Tuesday, Sept. 27 through Friday, Dec. 2, weather permitting.

Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing Walsh Avenue, Route 9W and Renwick Street as an alternate.

Drivers should slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver license.
