East Fishkill Man Accused Of Having Illegal AK-47 Rifle

State troopers said they stopped the man for a traffic violation on the Taconic State Parkway.

EAST FISHKILL, NY — A Dutchess County man was arrested after being accused of having an illegal AK-47 rifle during a traffic stop.

The New York State Police said troopers were on the Taconic State Parkway in East Fishkill shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday when they stopped a 2015 Mercedes-Benz 500 for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

An investigation found the driver, Essam Saleh, 29, of East Fishkill, was in illegal possession of a Palmetto State Armory PSAK-47 rifle.

Saleh was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of East Fishkill Court Dec. 29.
