The Hyde Park Police Department said, after complaints from the community about suspected illegal activity at Pine Woods Spa, on Pine Woods Road, the department launched a probe with the assistance of county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The investigation found that 48-year-old Zhanglian Liao, of Flushing, was operating the business where illegal massage services were being offered, according to police.
On Thursday, around 3 p.m., the Town of Hyde Park Police Department arrested Liao on charges of felony unauthorized practice and misdemeanor prostitution. The spa was shut down and Liao was released on an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hyde Park Court for arraignment on Sept. 4.
