Firefighters Battle Blaze At Auto Auction Site

Officials said more than 30 cars were on fire when first responders arrived at the scene.

MARLBORO, NY — Dozens of cars were damaged by fire Saturday at an automobile auction dealer in Marlboro.

The Marlboro Fire Department was sent to a reported vehicle fire at 91 Riverview Drive in Marlboro shortly before 9:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a post on Facebook. The location is the site of Copart - Newburgh, an online auto auction company.

When firefighters arrived, multiple vehicles were on fire, and a second alarm was transmitted.

A tanker from the Milton Fire Department was requested as well as an ambulance for standby duty.

Officials said about 32 vehicles were burning, and firefighters from Marlboro and Milton worked to extinguish the blaze.

One firefighter was evaluated for injuries at the scene, but was quickly released.

All crews were back in service by 2:30 p.m., fire officials said.

The fire is under investigation by the Ulster County Fire Investigation Division and the Marlboro Police Department.
