Goshen Man Arrested In NJ After Being Accused Of Child Rape
State police said the FBI was brought in to help find the man after he fled from New York.

GOSHEN, NY — A Goshen man who police said fled the state after being accused of raping a child was arrested Saturday.
The New York State Police said Jesus Torres, 31, of Goshen, was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sex abuse, felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
On Oct. 16, state police investigated allegations that Torres had sexual conduct with a child who was less than 13 years old. On Oct. 18, after learning that he had fled the state to avoid being arrested, the FBI was contacted and provided assistance trying to locate him.

On Saturday, Torres was found by the FBI and state police in West Orange, New Jersey.
He was arrested and brought back to New York, police said.

Torres was arraigned Sunday in the Town of Tuxedo Court and sent to Orange County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
State police were assisted by the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit, the Town of Goshen Police Department, the West Orange (New Jersey) Police Department, the Marta (Georgia) Police Department, the Chamblee (Georgia) Police Department, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
