Illegal Dump Shut Down In Wappingers Falls, DEC Says
A local landlord in the village allowed his property to be used as a dump site, officials said.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — An illegal dump was shut down in the village of Wappingers Falls.
Department of Environmental Conservation officers concluded an investigation into a solid waste dumping case Feb. 5.
A local landlord in Wappingers Falls allowed his property to be used as a dump site for construction and demolition debris left over from a renovation project instead of properly disposing of the waste at an authorized solid waste management facility, officials said.

The property borders and slopes precariously toward Wappingers Creek, the DEC said.
The landlord was charged in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court with operating a solid waste management facility without a permit and ordered to clean up the mess.

Potential fines for the charge range from $1,500 to $15,000 per day or imprisonment, the DEC said.
