Man On Parole For Robbery Arrested For Gas Station Heist: Police

Law enforcement said Michael J. Brooks of Plattekill has also 27 prior arrests.

HIGHLAND, NY — An Ulster County man was arrested after being accused of robbing a gas station in Highland.

The Town of Lloyd Police Department said Michael J. Brooks, 62, of Plattekill, was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, felonies.

Law enforcement said Brooks robbed the Mobil gas station on Grand Street in Highland Wednesday, taking $2,800.

He has 27 prior arrests and is on parole for first-degree robbery.

Brooks was arraigned in the Town of Lloyd Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

He is due back in court Tuesday.

Lloyd police were assisted by the Town of Newburgh Police Department, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
