Melee Involved Over 100 People Fighting In The Street, According To Cops

As officers tried to disperse the crowd, a 21-year-old punched a uniformed officer in the face, according to City of Poughkeepsie police.

CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A massive street fight required support from neighboring jurisdictions to help restore the peace.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department says that on Sunday, around 11:11 p.m., multiple units were dispatched to Cannon Street after receiving reports of a large fight.

At the scene, officers found over 100 people involved in a physical altercation, according to police.

After a request for additional units and mutual aid, City of Poughkeepsie police were joined by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, MTA police, Hyde Park police, and East Fishkill police.

As officers tried to disperse the crowd, 21-year-old Sani Robinson punched a uniformed officer in the face, according to police.

Robinson was arrested and charged with felony second-degree assault.

In addition, several others were taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct.

All suspects were taken to police headquarters where they were booked and held pending arraignment, according to police.
