KINGSTON, NY — A longtime town supervisor and a former state senator will face off in November to fill the final year of Pat Ryan's term as Ulster County executive.
The Ulster County Democratic Committee members on Saturday nominated Jen Metzger to run on the Democratic Party line to fill the vacant seat.
She will be running against Town of Ulster Supervisor James Quigley, a Republican who has been in office for six terms.

Quigley announced Sunday he was tossing his hat into the ring.
He said he will be ready on day one.
"I'm running for county executive because I am uniquely qualified to solve the problems that confront county residents," Quigley said, "and I understand the day-to-day responsibilities of running local government."
Ryan, who was in his second term as county executive, won a special election Aug. 23 to represent the 19th Congressional District through the end of the year. The vacancy occurred when Antonio Delgado was selected to be lieutenant governor by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Ryan will be running against Assemblyman Colin Schmitt to represent the new redistricted 18th Congressional District in the November election.
