Monroe Man Arrested Selling Pot From Bus In East Fishkill: Police

His mobile dispensary was seized by police after his arrest, authorities said.

EAST FISHKILL, NY — A Monroe man was accused of illegally selling pot and pot products in East Fishkill.

The East Fishkill Police Department said Eli E. Herrera, 22, of Monroe, was arrested Monday and charged with third-degree criminal sale of cannabis, a misdemeanor, and unlawful sale of cannabis, a violation.

Police said, around 4:30 p.m. Monday, the East Fishkill Police Department Patrol Division, in conjunction with the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, took Herrera into custody following an investigation into illegal sales of cannabis to people under the age of 21.

Herrera illegally sold cannabis from the rear of a makeshift dispensary bus, which was operating as a business without a permit or license, law enforcement said, resulting in his arrest. His dispensary bus was also seized and impounded.

He was processed at the East Fishkill Police Department, issued an appearance ticket and released.

Police said future charges are pending for another participant involved in this investigation.

The Town of East Fishkill opted out of allowing cannabis retail dispensaries and on-site cannabis consumption sites from being established and operated within the town’s jurisdiction, police officials said.
