Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With School SUV In Columbia County

The school vehicle had three students in it who were not injured.

TAGHKANIC, NY — An upstate man was killed in a crash Wednesday in Columbia County.

The New York State Police said the fatal motor vehicle crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday on the Taconic State Parkway at Post Hill Road in the town of Taghkanic.

An investigation found Craig A. McNulty, 59, of Troy, was traveling north on the Taconic while operating a 2018 BMW motorcycle when he was struck by an eastbound Taconic Hills Central School District 2019 Chevrolet Traverse.

The Traverse was driven by Christine M. Costa, 60, of Claverack. She was crossing the northbound lanes from Post Hill Road, police said.

McNulty was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Costa was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the school vehicle had three student passengers in it. They were not injured.

The investigation remains ongoing.
