Newburgh Man Accused Of Child Porn Extortion Plot: Feds

The resident threatened to share nude pictures of a minor unless she sent more images, according to prosecutors.

NEWBURGH, NY — A local man is accused of threatening to share nude photos of a minor with her friends and family unless she sent more explicit images.

Carsen Mansfield, 23, was charged April 29 with one count of extortionate interstate communications.

Christopher G. Raia, assistant director in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New York Field Office, said Mansfield “extorted and threatened a minor in another state to provide sexually explicit images.”

“Mansfield’s alleged actions violated a vulnerable victim’s privacy to satiate his personal disturbing desires,” Raia said.

Jay Clayton, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said Mansfield used Discord, an instant messaging platform, to track down and exploit the minor.

Clayton’s office issued an announcement about Mansfield’s arrest Thursday after a federal complaint against him was unsealed.

According to the complaint, Mansfield used Discord in August 2024 to contact the 17-year-old female in Michigan.

Mansfield sent the teen photographs which she recognized as nude photographs of herself, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. The Discord conversation shows the images were from when the teen was 14-years-old, the complaint shows.

“I have these pictures and if you don’t send me more I’m going to send them to your friends and family,” Mansfield wrote, according to prosecutors.

When the teen refused, Mansfield responded, “Have fun being ruined,” according to a transcript of the conversation in court documents. When the minor asked why the person contacting her was doing this, the response was, “I love power,” court documents show.

Also this week, law enforcement arrested Newburgh resident Lonnie Youmans, accusing him of using Discord to find and manipulate minors so he could get child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether there is any connection between the two cases.
