Newburgh Student Slashed With Knife After 2 People Get On Bus

The bus driver immediately took the student to the hospital for treatment.

NEWBURGH, NY — A Newburgh Free Academy student was slashed with a knife while he was on his way home on a school bus Monday.

Two people got onto the bus, according to Superintendent Jackielynn Manning Campbell, and had a fight with the student who eventually received a slash to his lower leg, MidHudson News reported.

The bus driver took the injured 17-year-old to the hospital for treatment, and the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Campbell said, in a letter to the community, that the two people knew the student, News 12 reported.

City of Newburgh Police Department detectives are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call 845-569-7509.
