NYSP Child Abuse Unit Charges Orange County Man With 10 Felony Counts Related To Child Exploitation

A 31-year-old Port Jervis man is accused of engaging in sexual communications with a 14-year-old girl, according to a grand jury indictment.

DEERPARK, NY — An Orange County man has been accused of sexually exploiting a child, after a joint investigation.

New York State Police say that the Child Abuse Unit in Orange County arrested 31-year-old Ronald Babcock, of the City of Port Jervis, after an investigation into allegations that the grown man had sexual communications with a 14-year-old girl over the phone.

The Deerpark Police Department said that they received little cooperation from the victim's parents, who did not intervene and allowed the phone contact to continue. The department then filed a report with the NYS Central Registry, leading to a joint investigation by the NYSP Child Abuse Unit and Orange County Child Protective Services.
