Pelosi Swears In Pat Ryan As Representative For CD19
The former Ulster County executive said he believes it is an all-hands-on-deck moment for democracy.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — It's "Congressman" Ryan now.
Former County Executive Pat Ryan was sworn in Tuesday as a member of the House of Representatives.
He won the Aug. 23 special election to fill the remainder of Antonio Delgado's term as representative of Congressional District 19.

Delgado gave up the position when he was chosen to be lieutenant governor by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Ryan will hold the office until the end of the year. He is running against Republican Assemblyman Colin Schmitt in the newly redrawn 18th Congressional District in the November general election.

In his first address to the House, he said it was a moment of immense consequence and challenge to the country.
"I believe it is truly an all-hands-on-deck moment for our democracy," Ryan said. "And I pledge that I will fight every single day — with every ounce of my being — to deliver for the people of New York's 19th District, and to renew trust and faith in our great nation."
He was joined at the swearing in ceremony by his wife, Rebecca, and his two children, Theo and Cameron.
Ryan also announced the opening of his Hudson Valley office at 256 Clinton Ave. in Kingston. The phone number is 845-443-2930.
His Washington, D.C., office is at 1007 Longworth Building in the District of Columbia.
