Poughkeepsie Man Accused Of Selling Fentanyl Near School

The Drug Task Force has been conducting investigations into the sale of dangerous drugs including fentanyl mixed with xylazine.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A city of Poughkeepsie man was accused of selling fentanyl near an elementary school.

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force said Joseph P. Parquet, 32, of the city of Poughkeepsie, was arrested and charged Thursday with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felonies.

Additional charges are pending, authorities said.

The task force has been conducting ongoing investigations into the sale of dangerous drugs including fentanyl mixed with xylazine, which is also known by the street names “Tranq” or “Zombie Drug.”

The investigation focused on the south side of Poughkeepsie, specifically in the areas of Academy and Montgomery streets.

On Thursday, task force agents located Parquet on the street in front of the Clinton Elementary School with a large quantity of fentanyl packaged for sale.

He was arrested without incident and taken to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office for processing where he is being held pending arraignment.
