Queens Man Drowns In Delaware River
The man tried to swim to an island in the river but became fatigued and got caught in the current.
BARRYVILLE, NY — A New York City man died Saturday after rafting on the Delaware River in Sullivan County.
The New York State Police said, shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday, troopers from the Liberty barracks were sent to Indian Head Campgrounds in the town of Barryville for a report of a drowning.
A preliminary investigation found that Brian J. Ordenia-Flores, 22, from Richmond Hill, Queens, was rafting on the Delaware River with family and friends.

Around 1 p.m., police said, the family tied up the raft and began swimming in the river.
Flores tried to swim to an inland in the middle of the river when he became tired and was caught in the current and was carried down river.

Flores was found a short time later by members of the National Park Service who immediately began lifesaving measures.
He was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
