Report Of Shots Fired Leads To Illegal Gun Charge: Police
Police said the gun wasn't involved in the shooting.

SAUGERTIES, NY — A Poughkeepsie man was accused of having an illegal weapon after police responded to a report of shots fired.
The New York State Police said, around 11:30 p.m. Friday, troopers from the Kingston barracks were sent to a home on Fish Creek Road in the town of Saugerties for a report of shots fired.

The Saugerties Police Department was first on the scene and notified state police there were no injuries and multiple vehicles were leaving the area, giving descriptions of the vehicles to troopers.
Troopers approached one of the cars at a local Speedway and identified the passenger as Zaccai Curtis, 20, of the city of Poughkeepsie.

Police said they were given permission to search the car, and troopers said they found a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun containing a 15-round magazine and an additional 16 rounds of ammunition under the car’s passenger seat.
Curtis was arrested and charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond or $150,000 partially secured bond.
The investigation found that the gun was not involved in the shooting, police said.
