Severe Thunderstorms Possible For Mid-Hudson Valley

The main threats are damaging winds and large hail. And higher elevations could experience frost and freeze conditions soon.

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — For the last full day of summer, there is the possibility of severe thunderstorms in part of the mid-Hudson Valley.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of the region Wednesday.

The outlook is for Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties.

A marginal to slight risk of severe thunderstorms exists for late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night.

Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats if severe storms develop.

There is also a chance of thunderstorms Thursday morning over the mid-Hudson Valley, southeast Catskills, Berkshires and portions of southern Vermont.

Frost and freeze conditions are possible Friday night over the higher terrain above 1,500 feet elevation, as well as the upper Hudson Valley.
