Severe Weather Possible For Mid-Hudson Valley Monday

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Severe weather may be possible in the mid-Hudson Valley Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties.

Forecasters said isolated thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon and evening.

There is a marginal risk for severe weather, with the main threat being isolated damaging winds.

Locally heavy rainfall is also possible which could result in urban and poor drainage flooding or an isolated flash flood.

Here is the forecast for the work week from the National Weather Service for the mid-Hudson Valley:

  • Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Wednesday: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Wednesday Night: Showers before 11pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 11pm and 2am, then showers likely after 2am. Low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.
  • Friday: Sunny, with a high near 62.
  • Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 44.
