Hudson Valley Woman Brings 3 Guns To School Property: Police
Authorities said the woman was found to have the guns when the car in which she was a passenger was stopped by police.

LIBERTY, NY — A Sullivan County woman was accused of having guns on school property.
The Village of Liberty Police Department said Amanda Jones, 38, of Monticello, was arrested Thursday after an investigation into the possession of multiple guns on the grounds of Liberty High School.
Authorities said the investigation began when Jones was found to have three handguns during a traffic stop conducted by Liberty police.

Jones was a passenger in the vehicle, and police said she had a Ruger 9mm semi-automatic handgun, a loaded Ruger SR22 .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun and a Glock 43 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
Further investigation revealed that, before the traffic stop, Jones had been on the grounds of Liberty High School with all three handguns in the same vehicle.

She was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, felonies.
Jones was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, $75,000 secured bond or $225,000 partially secured bond.
At arraignment, she was released on her own recognizance without bail pending a future court appearance.
Liberty Chief of Police Steven D’Agata said his department will continue to aggressively investigate and take appropriate action on any instances of unlawful possession of weapons on school grounds.
“The safety of the entire school community continues to be a priority of our department and we will continue to utilize all lawful tools and measures to ensure that safety,” he said.
