Ulster County Sheriff's Office Employee Kills Self At Work

The sheriff's office said the man died of a "self-inflicted gunshot wound" Thursday.

KINGSTON, NY — A long-time employee of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A news release from the sheriff’s office said the employee was found around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Members of the sheriff’s office attempted to provide emergency medical aid to the employee who was subsequently taken to Health Alliance Hospital Mary’s Avenue Campus in Kingston where the employee was pronounced dead.

The employee was a man who had worked for the sheriff’s office for more than 20 years, the Daily Freeman reported.

Out of respect and privacy for the family, the sheriff’s office is not releasing the employee’s name or any other information at this time.
