Ulster Man Receives Prison Time For Shooting Ex-Girlfriend's Boyfriend
He was friends with the man he shot until his girlfriend broke up with him for the other man.
KINGSTON, NY — An Ulster County man will be going to prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend.
In January, Walter Post Jr., 26, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for fatally shooting Michael Hankins, 29, in the town of Shawangunk, News 12 reported.
Post was sentenced Friday to 18 years to life.

He was also ordered to pay $8,200 to Hankins's family and the Crime Victims Board for a portion of the funeral expenses, Mid Hudson News reported.
Post shot Hankins with a shotgun Jan. 11 after Hankins got out of his car to check his tires that had been slashed by Post.

The two were friends until Post's girlfriend broke up with him for Hankins.
