Victim In Fatal Taconic State Parkway Crash ID'd As Putnam Man

He was driving a Toyota Camry southbound at a high speed, when the car left the roadway and struck several trees.

LAGRANGE, NY — Authorities have released the identity of a man killed in a fatal single-car crash on the Taconic.

New York State Police say that on Tuesday, around 9 p.m., troopers responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on the Taconic State Parkway, in the Town of Lagrange.

Police say their initial investigation found that 45-year-old Vikrant K. Sharma, of Putnam Valley, was driving a 2023 Toyota Camry southbound at a high rate of speed, before leaving the roadway for unknown reasons and striking several trees.

Sharma was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.

State police say the investigation is ongoing.
