Ryan Handily Wins Dem Nomination For 18th CD
He will be facing Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, who will appear on the Republican and Conservative lines, in November.

GARDINER, NY — Voters in the newly redrawn 18th Congressional District went to the polls Tuesday to decide which Democrat will appear on the ballot in the November general election.
According to The Associated Press, Pat Ryan is the apparent winner. As of 10:25 p.m. Ryan was ahead in the 18th CD primary with 82 percent of the vote with 144 of 239 elections districts reporting.
Pat Ryan, of Gardiner, is the Ulster County executive. He is also running in the special election to fill a vacancy in the current 19th Congressional District, appearing on the Democrat and Working Families party lines.

Also running were Aisha Mills and Moses R. Mugulusi.
Mills, of Newburgh, is an LGBTQ advocate and was a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. She also was president and CEO of the Victory Fund & Institute and executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus PAC.

Mugulusi, who lives in Florida, is a regulator of financial institutions. He has an MBA in finance and bachelor of science in accounting.
Ryan will be running against Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, who will appear on the Republican and Conservative lines.
The new 18th Congressional District is comprise of Orange County and part of Ulster and Dutchess counties.
