MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — City fire marshals ruled that a 3-alarm fire that broke out Saturday in a Midtown Manhattan restaurant was started accidentally, FDNY officials said.

The fire, which injured one person, was caused by cooking, FDNY officials said. The blaze broke out Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m. in a first-floor restaurant at 888 7th Ave., a 46-story building on the corner of West 56th Street, deputy assistant fire chief John Hodgens said at a briefing at the scene.

The fire began in the restaurant's duct work and spread to the kitchen, Hodgens said at the briefing.
