City Winery Pop Up Opens In Rockefeller Plaza
The pop up wine garden will be open daily and serve both food and City Winery's selection of wines on tap.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — City Winery has opened a pop up wine garden in Rockefeller Plaza as the business prepares to move from its longtime space in Tribeca to a new location in Chelsea, the winery announced this week.
The pop up wine garden is located in Rockefeller Center’s North Plaza — between West 50th and 51st streets and Fifth and Sixth avenues — and is serving a menu that features City Winery's wines on tap, a selection of appetizers and beer. City Winery's longtime Hudson Square location will close at the end of the month.
"I am excited to open our City Winery pop-up in the center of Manhattan," said Michael Dorf, founder and CEO of City Winery, said in a statement. "We could not be more honored to be bringing our award-winning tap wine, which is locally crafted in Manhattan, to Rockefeller Center, one of New York City’s most recognized landmarks."

More than 50 employees that would have been displaced by the business closing will work at the Rockefeller Center wine garden, a company spokesperson said. The wine garden will be open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight.
City Winery sources grapes for its wines from around the world, but most of its products are made in the borough of Manhattan. The business serves most of its wines on tap to cut down on packaging and waste.

The popular music and food festival venue and wine-maker signed a 25-year lease with RXR and developer Young Woo for a 32,000-square-foot space at Pier 57 in Manhattan's Hudson River Park, according to City Winery. The new space is expected to open by early 2020 at Pier 57, located at the end of West 15th St., City Winery said.
City Winery was forced out from its current location at 155 Varick St. when Disney purchased the building for its new headquarters.
