MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Fresh from being booed at the World Series, President Donald Trump is hoping for a less hostile crowd when he heads to a Madison Square Garden smackdown this weekend.

The embattled Commanded in Chief will be in New York City to watch the men and women of the Ultimate Fighting Championship beat each other up, according to reports.

Trump will be attending "UFC 224" on Saturday night and staying in New York for the night at his penthouse in Trump Tower, New York Times reporter Annie Karni first reported. The president will leave the city sometime on Sunday, according to the report.

Saturday's fight night will be Trump's second sports event in recent weeks. The president made news when he showed up for the Washington D.C. World Series game, only to be loudly booed by the spectators in attendance.

Trump's appearance at the UFC event is several years in the making. The president was previously invited in 2016 to the UFC's last fight at Madison Square Garden by the league's president Dana White, but was advised not to go for security reasons, the New York Post reported.

With both the New York City Marathon and Trump's visit occurring on the same day, Sunday traffic will likely be a nightmare. Increased security measures near Midtown's Trump Tower will also be in effect. NYPD security costs during Trump's visits amount to around $308,000 per day every time he stays overnight, police and city officials have said in the past.
