Elderly Man Hit, Critically Injured By School Bus In Midtown: Police

A school bus driver hit an 82-year-old man in a Midtown street on Friday, leaving him critically injured, police said.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — An elderly man was in critical condition after he was struck by a school bus driver on a Midtown street on Friday, police said.

Around 10:30 a.m. Friday, the yellow bus was making a left turn onto Second Avenue at East 37th Street when it hit the 82-year-old man, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The man suffered head injuries and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. There were no updates about his condition by Friday afternoon.

It was unclear where the man was standing on the street when he was hit. Police have not identified him, but said the unidentified bus driver stayed at the scene.
