MIDTOWN, NY — The New York Police Department issued a warning on Tuesday that health care CEOs are at a heightened risk following last week's targeted killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown, several reports confirm.

Several posters with the names and photos of other health care CEOs went up around lower Manhattan near Wall Street with the words "HEALTH CARE CEOS SHOULD NOT FEEL SAFE," at the bottom of each poster, according to the New York Daily News.

The posters also have the words "DENY, DEFEND, DEPOSE," which were found written on the bullet shells that killed Thompson.

The bulletin the NYPD issued warned that the shooter's actions have the "capability to inspire a variety of extremists and grievance-driven malicious actors to violence," according to ABC News, which first reported the news.

The NYPD said that companies should increase safety precautions and security for executives in the wake of these posters and a viral online hit list, listing the names and salaries of several corporate CEOs.

"Both prior to and after the suspected perpetrator's identification and arrest, some online users across social media platforms reacted positively to the killing, encouraged future targeting of similar executives, and shared conspiracy theories regarding the shooting," the bulletin said, according to ABC.
