Penn Station Delays: NJ Transit Trains Stalled Up To 90 Minutes

NJ Transit blamed "overhead wire problems" in Penn Station for the delays.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — NJ Transit trains into and out of Penn Station were heavily delayed Monday morning, the transit agency announced.

NJ Transit first announced around 9:15 a.m. that trains would be delayed about 45 minutes. Delays of 60 minutes were reported around 10:15 a.m. and delays of 90 minutes were reported around 10:45 a.m., NJ Transit announced on social media.

The transit agency blamed "Amtrak overhead wire problems in New York," for the delays. Amtrak is responsible for the upkeep of Penn Station.

NJ Transit rail tickets were being honored by NJ Tranist bus lines and the PATH train at NY 33rd Street, Hoboken & Newark Penn Station, NJ Transit officials said.
