Police Identify Diamond District Heist Suspects: NYPD

Three men robbed a Diamond District store at gunpoint in August, making out with a large quantity of jewelry in the broad-daylight heist.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD has identified two men accused of robbing a Diamond District store in August, police said Tuesday.

Investigators believe that 39-year-old Jaysean Sutton and 27-year-old Pedro Davila orchestrated an Aug. 25 broad-daylight heist at West 47th Street's Avianne & Co. Jewelers, police said. A crew of three men used guns to threaten store workers and then bound employees with zip ties during the brazen robbery, police said.

Police did not disclose where either suspect lives, but said Sutton frequents the area near East New York, Brooklyn and Davila frequents the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.

Dramatic video of the heist released by police shows a man identified as Sutton pulling a gun from under a table as he spoke with store employees about merchandise. Sutton, who was decked out in a suit and matching fedora during the robbery, points the weapon while accomplices forced the workers into a backroom, binding them with zip-ties and duct tape, according to the video.

Police said the crew fled the scene with a "large quantity" of jewelry after grabbing items from the store's safes and display cases. None of the store employees were injured during the robbery, police said.
